Planning your trip
Recommended site that will help you in Yosemite to plan your hike are www.travelyosemite.com and the www.nps.gov then search Yosemite.
If you are planning on going anywhere that requires you to stay overnight in a tent, you need to look into getting a permit for the back country. There are links on those sites. You have to have a permit and they do limit how many permits they give out per trail head.
Getting to the park
Most of us have to fly and I recommend you fly into Fresno California

Being prepared when the trail doesn't look like you expect it to. Forest fires have a way of changing the landscape and often times this leads to you getting lost. The trail is basically burned away.

Personal locator device
While hiking in the wilderness or hunting, kayaking for that matter, I strongly recommend you get a personal locator beacon. I personally use the Garmin Inreach mini. There is a subscription that comes with the device, but it can be paused if not in use. It connects to your cell phone and gives love ones the ability to track you.
